FORTUNE, N.L. — Dynamic Construction Ltd. of Harbour Breton has been awarded a contract worth approximately $1.1 million by the Fortune Port Corporation to carry out repairs to structure 6 of the wharf in Fortune.

“Right now, we do have a contract for a Fortune Wharf repair job that we are going to be starting very soon,” Dave Clark with Dynamic Construction confirmed.

He explained the estimated time frame for the repair to the wharf is five months.

“The job that we’re presently doing, is we’re doing repairs to the sheet piles under the retaining wall,” he said. “Basically it’s just steel plate being put back in, take out the old steel plate that’s there — I guess it is corroded and rusted.”

Clark noted they will be tearing up the existing concrete deck to install new h-plies before pouring a new concrete deck, new structural timbers and tire chains will also be installed during repairs to the structure.
