HARBOUR GRACE, N.L. — You’ve heard about potential explosive situations.

Well, this was one of them… literally.

A 70-year-old Harbour Grace man is facing a charge of impaired driving after colliding with the barrier surrounding propane tanks at a local gas station in the community Saturday afternoon.

Police officers from Harbour Grace Detachment responded to a report of the collision and after locating the vehicle, say they observed an open alcohol container in the cupholder. The driver was taken into custody, with breath-testing confirmed his blood alcohol concentration was nearly twice the legal limit.

His vehicle was impounded and he will appear in court at a later date to face a charge of impaired driving.
