HARBOUR GRACE, N.L. — Two men were arrested in separate alleged impaired driving incidents in the Conception Bay North area on Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Shortly after 1 p.m., RCMP officers responding to a tip located a man consuming alcohol in his vehicle while parked at a local business. The 50-year-old man from Ochre Pit Cove was arrested for impaired care and control of a vehicle and was transported to the detachment where he is alleged to have provided breath samples that were above the provincial limit.

The accused was issued a seven-day driving suspension and his vehicle was seized and impounded. He was also ticketed for having open alcohol in a vehicle, operating a vehicle without insurance, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license and failing to transfer the ownership of the vehicle.

Later in the day, the RCMP responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 75 between Harbour Grace and Tilton and learned that the driver had left the scene on foot. Once located, officers suspected the 39-year-old man from Victoria was impaired and a roadside breath test resulted in an alleged fail. He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the detachment where RCMP say breath samples were recorded at twice the legal limit.

His vehicle was seized impounded and his license was suspended.  He is set to attend court at a later date to answer impaired driving charges
