Heather Brown is the new chief executive officer of Labrador-Grenfell Health.
Her appointment was announced in a news release from the Department of Health and Community Services today, May 24.
Brown, currently the vice-president of rural health, long term care and community health with Central Health, has roughly 25 years of experience in healthcare.
The appointment, which begins on June 18 and is for a five-year term, was recommended though the merit-based Independent Appointments Commission.
Health and Community Services Minister John Haggie welcomed Brown, who holds a bachelor of nursing and a master of education in post-secondary studies from Memorial University, to the position.
“She will play a valuable role given her executive experience at Central Health and expertise in a number of areas such as community health, rural emergency and acute care services, and long-term and complex care,” Haggie said.
