A hit-and-run collision on the Trans-Canada Highway near Paradise sent one woman to hospital Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened in the westbound lane of the Outer Ring Road just east of Paradise when it appears the woman’s SUV was rear-ended by another vehicle.
The RNC says the vehicle that struck the SUV then left the scene of the collision but was located a short time later in Conception Bay South. The front bumper from that vehicle was left at the scene of the incident on the highway.
Accident investigators were spotted at the scene documenting the crash.
The driver of the suspect vehicle, a 35-year-old man, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and flight from police. He was held for a court appearance Sunday morning.
The injuries to the woman were not considered serious.
