HOLYROOD, N.L. — Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers are reminding motorists of the potential risks to their vehicles in using car pool parking lots.

The warning comes after a spate of complaints about damage to and theft from vehicles in a lot just off the Trans-Canada Highway near the Holyrood Access Road.

The most recent incidents, reported on April 19, involved one vehicle having its gas line cut and the lug nuts removed from the wheels while the other vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup truck, had all four tires and rims stolen.

The Holyrood RCMP detachment advises people to park in well-lit areas and to ensure the vehicle is secure and valuables are out of sight.

Anyone with information about the above incidents is asked to contact the RCMP at 229-3892, through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), online at nlcrimestoppers.com or through a free and secure mobile app found under P3 Tips in your preferred app store.
