HOLYROOD, N.L.

Holyrood RCMP made a pair of impaired driving arrests in separate incidents over the weekend.

According to a news release, the first arrest took place Friday night in Harbour Main, where a vehicle was stopped for speeding. Police suspected the driver, 18, had been using cannabis. He was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle while impaired by drug and was released from custody. His first court date at St. John’s Provincial Court will be in December.

The next night, Holyrood RCMP followed up on a tip about a vehicle traveling erratically on the Trans-Canada Highway near Butter Pot Park that ended up in the median. A 26-year-old man was arrested, charged with impaired operation of a vehicle and also released from custody. His first court date is in February.
