If you’re interested in finally building that dream deck, and you live in Conception Bay South, now might be a good time if you’ve got the spare cash.

The town is waiving all permit fees for decks, fences, general repairs and accessory buildings beginning June 1 for the remainder of the year.

“Council noted that it is a challenging time for residents and businesses, and this fee elimination will help reduce financial hardship,” states a news release from the town.

“This summer, many people will not be taking vacations in the traditional manner, so this could be a great time to invest in upgrades to their homes. By eliminating permit fees, residents may now feel more inclined and in a better financial position to make home renovations. This will subsequently help support local businesses as well,” Mayor Terry French stated in the release.

While residents will still be required to make a permit application and comply with development regulations, there will be no charge.
