ST. JOHN’S, N.L.
The Department of Transportation and Works is cautioning motorists in eastern Newfoundland and the Avalon Peninsula to be prepared for icy driving conditions on Thursday morning, Jan. 10.
The department has issued an advisory indicating it is monitoring forecasts with freezing rain starting around 3 a.m. The most intense period, however, is anticipated between 6-9 a.m., the advisory notes.
Snow plows and ice control crews will be working overnight in preparation for the conditions.
Motorists are also advised to drive cautiously, expect travel delays, ensure vehicles are properly equipped for winter driving and drive to conditions, the advisory states.
