Hilary Warren, 15, of Upper Gullies, C.B.S., was introduced Wednesday as the Janeway Children’s Miracle Network Telethon’s 2018 Janeway Champion Child at Walmart in Mount Pearl.

At the age of 14, Hilary suffered from an arteriovenous malformation (brain bleed) and was found unresponsive by her sister, Bec, at home and was rushed to the Janeway Children’s Hospital.

Hilary had emergency brain surgery, and today battles epilepsy as a result.

As one of this year’s national Champion Children, she will travel to Ottawa later this year to meet her counterparts from across the country, and on March 2 Hilary, her sister Bec, brother Kalem and parents Trina and Duane Warren will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the annual Canadian and American gathering of Champion Children at Disneyworld.

This year’s telethon will be broadcast on NTV June 2-3.
