NATUASHISH, N.L. — A 24-year-old Natuashish woman was arrested following a couple of calls to the RCMP about her allegedly driving an ATV while impaired.

On July 7 police got a call about a suspected impaired driver in the community and while they were searching for the ATV, they received a separate report and learned that the same ATV was just involved in a collision. When they spoke to the driver of the ATV, RCMP said she showed signs of being impaired by alcohol, as did the two passengers with her on the vehicle.

The young woman was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the detachment where RCMP said she refused to provide breath samples. She was held in custody and released on a number of conditions to attend court at a later date.

The two other passengers were arrested for being intoxicated by alcohol on a dry reserve, a violation of Natuashish bylaws.

The investigation is continuing, and police ask anyone who may have witnessed the ATV collision to please contact Natuashish RCMP at 709-478-8900.
