The event is taking place on January 1, 2017 starting at 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and there will be fireworks, wieners, marshmallow roast, and hot chocolate.

"We have our drummers, guest speakers, and a strong presence to show our commitment to protecting our Labrador way of life, waters, and lands! All are welcome," said Jennifer Hefler-Elson. "People are encouraged to bring food, wood, and noisemakers to start off the New Year right with us."

According to a press release issued by the LLP, one of the goals of the rally is to send the message to government leaders of all levels that the protectors are Labrador strong and united.

"The battle cry is clear; it is time to Shut Muskrat Down for good!!” said LLP member Denise Cole.
“No more dams, no more Labrador injustice, and no more allowing Nalcor to destroy the mighty Grand River! There are so many things wrong with the damming of Muskrat Falls, shutting it down is the only way to make it right! We are a people united and we will never be divided! And this, my friends, is what democracy looks like!"

The release said the LLP are mobilizing for the New Year and will be launching further campaigns and events to continue with their goals regarding the Muskrat Falls project.
