Following a report of a stabbing at a residence in Tilton on Sept,. 12, 21-year-old Mitchell Butler of St. John's was arrested and is charged with aggravated assault and a number of other criminal offences, according to Harbour Grace RCMP.

About 12:40 a.m. on Saturday morning, Harbour Grace and Bay Roberts RCMP were dispatched to a report of a man who was attacked with a knife.

Officers attended the hospital in Carbonear, where the man was receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

A search warrant for the residence was obtained and the scene was processed by the RCMP forensic identification section.

The suspect was later located and arrested by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St John’s.

Butler currently remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court in Harbour Grace Tuesday to answer to charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breach of probation.

The victim was released from hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
