A 42-year-old man is in police custody and facing multiple charges after a bomb threat the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s Wednesday morning.
Just before 7 a.m., the man is alleged to have entered the hospital and state that he had explosives on his person. When Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers arrived, the area was cordoned off and the man was arrested without further incident.
After a search of the accused failed to turn up any explosives, facility staff were given the all clear to return to work.
When the accused appears before a provincial court justice later today, he’ll face charges of Uttering Threats to Cause Death, Uttering Threats to Cause Property Damage, and Causing a Disturbance.
