GARNISH, N.L. — A 48-year-old Burin Peninsula man is facing a charge of attempted murder following an investigation into shots fired into a home in Garnish on Friday.
RCMP responded to the scene of the shooting at the community wet of Marystown at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brenton was arrested later that night, made an initial court appearance on Saturday and was held in custody to appear in court again Monday afternoon in Grand Bank.
He has been charged with attempted murder, two counts of uttering threats, possession of a firearm without a license, knowingly possessing a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, unsafe use of a firearm, pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
According to the police, that list will likely be lengthened. They say the investigation is continuing, with further charges expected.
Detachment police officers, General Investigative Services, Police Dog Services, the Emergency Response Team, Traffic Services East, and the Underwater Recovery Team all collaborated on the investigation.
