One man is dead after an accident in Bonavista Tuesday.
About 12:30 p.m., Bonavista RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash near Dungeon’s Historical Site, close to Cape Bonavista.
The vehicle was observed driving over a cliff and ended up completely under water with one man inside.
Ambulance and fire department were on scene with police from Bonavista and Clarenville RCMP detachments.
Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre dispatched a helicopter from 103 Squadron in Gander, which lowered Search and Rescue technicians into the water. A man’s body has been recovered and was transported to shore by Canadian Coast Guard. Efforts to retrieve the vehicle are continuing.
A RCMP Traffic Services analyst is enroute.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and police are continuing the investigation.
