One person was sent to hospital following a two-vehicle collision and an RNC K-9 team was called in to search for a male who fled the area on foot.

The collision happened at the intersection of Captain Whelan Drive and Hamlyn Road in St. John's just before 9 p.m. and left one car on the top of a snow bank. A male occupant of that car was seen running away from the scene and it was unclear whether the man was the driver or a passenger.

Police were seen questioning a second male occupant of the vehicle as they investigated the crash. The K-9 team effected a short search of the area but were unable to locate the man who fled.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the injuries were not thought to be serious.
