A 44-year-old Catalina man was found dead Tuesday evening near an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on East Point Road in Catalina.

At approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday, Bonavista RCMP received a call from the Catalina Fire Department reporting that a man was found on the roadway and was unresponsive.

An ATV, that was still running, was found a short distance away from the man.

The victim was removed from the scene in an ambulance prior to police arrival. He was pronounced deceased upon his arrival at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre.

Police attended the scene and observed that the ATV was upright and without damage. A helmet was located on the roadway a short distance away from where the man was found. Police believe the man may have fallen off the ATV.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was engaged and the investigation into the cause of the man’s death is continuing.

Bonavista RCMP is looking for possible witnesses and asks anyone with any information to call the detachment at 709-468-7333 or contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (TIPS is 8477), by Secure Web Tips at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
