Man held in custody after motor vehicle accident in east end of St. John's

Among the charges he is facing are impaired driving, uttering threats and failure to remain at the scene

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. —

A 45-year-old man has been charged with impaired driving and was held in custody overnight after police were called to the east end of the St. John’s to look into a report of a motor vehicle accident.

Although the man and his vehicle weren’t on the scene when Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers arrived, witnesses helped the police in locating the car and driver a short distance away.

The vehicle was impounded and the driver was held pending a court appearance where he will face charges of refusing a breathalyzer test, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, uttering threats and breach of a court order, in addition to the impaired charge.
