One man was taken to hospital Wednesday evening when a pole fell on him during a home paving operation.

The man was working with a paving crew at a home on Oxford Crescent in Mount Pearl when workers somehow toppled an old metal clothesline pole. The victim was apparently struck in the head but his injuries are not thought to be serious. He was taken to hospital by Eastern Health ambulance.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and provincial occupational health and safety officials are investigating the workplace accident.
