CUPIDS, N.L. — A man who was the subject of arrest warrants in Alberta was arrested last week following a dramatic car crash in Cupids.
According to a Bay Roberts RCMP news release, police responded to a call on the morning of July 4 about a vehicle leaning up against a tree off Route 60 in Cupids. No occupants were found at the scene by the responding officers.
Further investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was taken from the scene by a passing motorist and brought to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Police soon realized the vehicle was stolen out of Conception Harbour sometime overnight and the suspect had arrest warrants out of Alberta.
The RNC executed an arrest warrant and the suspect, a 36-year-old man from Colliers, is expected to be transported back to Alberta to answer to previous charges.
The investigation into the stolen vehicle and the collision in Cupids is ongoing.
