Pasadena experienced more growth in 2018 and Mayor Gary Bishop expects things could be even better in 2019.

Streets are being recapped, lift stations are now above ground, trail systems are being developed, but more importantly, developers are eager to develop land for dozens more to consider Pasadena as a place to live and raise a family.

The Star chatted with Mayor Gary Bishop about the past year and got his thoughts on five of the most important things that happened in Pasadena in 2018.

• Investment in infrastructure

All of the lift stations around Pasadena used to be underground, but with today’s technology they’ve all been upgraded and now located above ground and Bishop said that’s very important because all the sewer is pumped to a lagoon in the town.

• Street recapping

During the past year, the town made things better for the motoring public by investing roughly one million dollars into recapping some of the streets.

There were six or seven streets done in 2018 and the plan is do more each year.

• Town plan

What the future holds for the town and what is offered to the residents to enjoy over the next 10 years will be clearer in 2019.

Pasadena council has a draft copy of its 10-year development plan and which will be finalized in 2019. Bishop considers it a very important issue to move the town forward considering council has been talking about it around the table for two years now.

• Housing

Even though housing starts were down last year, Bishop said developers have opened up several new streets in the town, so he views this as a positive step.

He said there will be up to 80 new lots developed for sale in 2019, so he’s hopeful there will be more growth in the town.

“They must anticipate they’re going to sell the lots, so it tells me they’re anticipating good growth in 2019,” he said.

• Master trail plan

Pasadena received funding in 2018 to move forward with its master trail plan.

Council is expected to upgrade existing trails and build new ones, but more importantly the plan will see a connection of the network. A committee has been charged with the task of delivering the plan and Bishop believes it will be a welcome addition to the town for all hands to enjoy.
