Friends and family of the late Keith Hendry are looking to create something good out of a devastating tragedy.

As a way to honour his memory and help kids, a memorial fund is being dedicated to Hendry, who lost his life Nov. 10 when the pickup truck he was in slipped off a bridge near Terra Nova while he and several companions were on a hunting trip.

Funds will be used to aid underprivileged youth to participate in minor hockey, a game Hendry loved.

The father of two grew up playing hockey and became a dedicated hockey volunteer and coach.

The Mount Pearl Minor Hockey Association, in conjunction with Hendry’s family, will create an award in his honour. The fund was initiated by the Hunting and Fishing Group in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Keith adored hunting and this sport brought him much happiness,” the Facebook page about the fund states.

All funds can be directed to Hendry’s brother-in-law, Rowland Hoddinott, at [email protected] and will be forwarded to an account with MPMHA.
