In a Sunday afternoon news release, Memorial University said it was postponing the return to campus for non-academic staff which was scheduled for this week.
The university made the decision due to the rising number of cases of COVID-19 in the province. As of the last update on Saturday, there were 18 active cases.
The news release said the postponement applies to all Memorial University campuses and locations.
The university, however, remains open and people who have been working from their offices already are still able to do so while following public health guidelines and posted signage around campus.
“Memorial University's priority since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, has always been, and still is, the health and safety of the campus community,” reads the news release.
