ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Most businesses and government offices will be closed in Newfoundland and Labrador on Monday in observance of the Labour Day holiday.

As people head out on the highway for the last long weekend of the summer, to go camping or travel to other communities, the RCMP reminds them that officers will be working and on patrol.

The RCMP sent out a tweet asking people to drive safely.

All St. John’s city offices and facilities will be closed on Monday.

The city says garbage and recycling collection will occur on Tuesday.

The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility will be closed to residential and commercial users on Monday.

Bannerman Park, Bowring Park and Kenmount Terrace Community Centre splash pads will be open from 9 a.m. to dusk on Monday — note that this will be the final day of operation for the splash pads.

Parking regulations will not be enforced in the city, as Monday is a Shops Closing Holiday.
