Mount Pearl business gets $500,000 from ACOA

Genoa Design International Ltd., a marine production design company, has received repayable funding of $500,000 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency's ACOA) business development program.

The money is to be used to improve training development. operational efficiency and quality assurance.

 The funding was announced by St. John's South-Mount Pearl MP Seamus O’Regan Thursday on behalf of ACOA.

 Genoa Design International Limited provides production lofting, detail design and 3-D modelling services to shipbuilding and offshore industries around the world, and has worked on container ships, offshore supply vessels, ferries and tankers, according to a news release on the funding.

“ACOA has supported many Genoa initiatives that helped fuel our growth over the past 20 years,” Genoa chief executive officer Gina Pecore said in a news release.

“This latest project will enable us to reach new growth goals internationally, and to strengthen our capacity to serve Canada’s National Shipbuilding Program by attracting and developing top-notch shipbuilding designers. We’re very proud to be at the heart of rebuilding Canada’s shipbuilding industry.”
