The City of Mount Pearl announced this afternoon it will lift the state of emergency effective Friday at 6 a.m.

All Mount Pearl recreation facilities will resume operations Friday and open for regular business hours.

“To aid with the ongoing snow-clearing operations, the City of Mount Pearl is implementing a 24-hour parking ban until further notice,” the news release states. “Residents and businesses are prohibited from leaving a vehicle unattended on any city street. When clearing driveways, vehicles may be moved into the street, but they must be attended at all times and easily removed as to not impact snow-clearing operations.”

The city anticipates that most roads will be widened early next week. Once widening is completed, focus of efforts will be on clearing sidewalks.

“Safety remains a top priority and we ask all motorists to drive slowly and carefully and remind pedestrians to use extra caution when moving throughout the city,” the release states.
