NL Craft Beer Festival expands from St. John’s BrewFest

Total beer sales in Nova Scotia increased from around 599,000 hectolitres in 1993 to around 622,000 in 2016, and during that same time span, craft beer sales grew from nearly zero to nearly 33,000 hectolitres.

Festival organizers, in a news release, said the explosive growth of the craft beverage industry in Newfoundland — including craft beer, cider, and more recently kombucha — has paved the way for a broader range of offerings.

With the emergence of multiple craft breweries on the west coast, the festival will now hold events in both Corner Brook and St. John’s.

Beer lovers in Corner Brook will have the opportunity to taste local and imported craft beer April 6 at the Pepsi Centre.

St. John’s will see two shows — slated for the Pleasentville Royal Canadian Legion on April 12 and 13.

Tickets for both cities go on sale Friday at noon. Those seeking more information on the festival can visit www.nlcraftbeerfestival.ca

“The Newfoundland Craft Beer Festival is just the tip of the iceberg for what we have planned for 2019. We will be bringing back event favorites such as Cider Fest and 12 Beers of Christmas with new events slated for the summer and fall,” said festival co-organizer Steve Martin in the news release.

“There has never been a more delicious time to be part of the craft beverage industry in our province. You can find a quality local pint and a cool place to drink it across the island. Looking forward to bringing them all together at the festivals,” said his co-organizer, Craig Farewell.

Tickets for the festivals are $69 (regular)/$79 (VIP) including taxes and excluding surcharges.

The doors open an hour earlier for VIP customers.
