If you think you've noticed the RCMP a bit more than usual while out and about this week, there’s a reason.
It’s Canada Road Safety Week, a collective effort by Canadian police services to aggressively enforce the laws of the road.
The seven-day campaign kicked off on Tuesday, May 15 and wraps up this Monday, May 21, taking in the Victoria day weekend.
The RCMP will be conducting traffic stops and checkpoints throughout the province during the week.
They will be concentrating their efforts in particular on impaired driving, seatbelt violations, distracted driving, speeding, intersection safety, and vehicle equipment and document related violations.
