Ap Low Primary in Labrador City, Ecole C.C. Loughlin School in Corner Brook, Hazelwood Elementary and St. Paul’s Junior High in St. John’s, St. Joseph’s Elementary in Harbour Breton, Mount Pearl’s St. Peter’s Primary, Mount Pearl Senior High and Holy Trinity High School in Torbay were announced Tuesday as one step closer to winning.
Now in its seventh consecutive year, the contest, which recognizes elementary and secondary schools that are helping the environment by implementing innovative eco-programs, is held in collaboration with Earth Day Canada.
This year, there were more than 700 entries from schools across the country.
The finalists now advance to a second round of judging where 10 schools from five different regions will be selected to receive $25,000 each towards the purchase of new technology from Staples Canada.
Winning schools will be announced April 22.
