St. John’s, N.L — The MerB’ys splashed down to the Rocket Bakery Saturday afternoon for the official launch of the 2018 MerB’ys Calendar.

Two dozen or so local men who are a part of Newfoundland and Labrador Beard and Moustache Club have gained international attention over the past number of weeks for their unique fundraising efforts.

All proceeds from the MerB’ys calendars are going towards Spirit Horse NL.

Spirit Horse is part of Stable Life Inc., a registered not-for-profit organization, a horse therapy organization in Portugal Cove-St. Phillip’s.

Its website says it is mandated to support people with mental illness through the provision of an Equine Assisted Program for the purpose of offering alternative ways of living a recovery-based life. The organization will support children, youth and adults by helping to provide tools to learn coping skills for themselves.
