Firefighter's from various stations of the St. John's Regional Fire Department battled a house fire in nasty weather conditions in the Shea Heights area of St. John’s today.
Crews were dispatched there just before 10:30 a.m. and upon arrival were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the home on Jordan Place.
Visibility on the street was almost at zero due to the smoke until firefighter's were able to get the fire knocked down and under control.
Extensive damage could be seen to the front of the home, particularly in the area of the in-house garage.
Crews used chainsaws to cut away at the garage roof and the upper front facade of the home to check for hot spots.
Several firefighter's fought the fire from inside and outside the home.
No injuries were reported and the homeowners were seen speaking with the RNC and others at the scene.
The section of Jordan Place affected by the fire was closed to vehicle traffic.
