No new cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador on Sunday

On Sunday, a news release from the province said there were no new confirmed cases of COVID-19. 

The total number of confirmed cases remains at 259. 

Four people are in hospital due to the virus, and of those patients, two are in intensive care.

To date, 232 people have recovered. 

Three people have died from COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador.

So far, 8,833 people have been tested.

Eastern Health: 241

Central Health - 8

Labrador-Grenfell Health - 6

Western Health - 4

Breakdown of confirmed cases by age

19 years and under: 22 people

Between age 20-39: 38 people

Between age 40-49: 39 people

Between age 50-59: 56 people

Between age 60-69: 57 people

Age 70 and above: 47 people

Preventative actions

The news release reminds the public to strictly adhere to the public health orders and directives issued by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Janice Fitzgerald. 

 “Individuals should practice good infection prevention and control practices. Daily preventative actions can help to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” it reads. 

Some examples provided in the news release include:

  • Wash your hands often with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds;
  • Use an alcohol based hand sanitizer in the absence of warm water and soap;
  • Avoid touching your face;
  • Practice proper cough and sneeze etiquette;
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces;
  • Maintain a distance of six feet (two metres) between you and others;
  • Wear a properly fitted, homemade or non-medical mask when going out for essentials to protect others; and,
  • Stay home if you are sick.
