FOXTRAP, N.L. — There were no serious injuries in a moose-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada highway near Foxtrap Sunday night.
The crash happened in the eastbound lane at the Foxtrap weigh scales, causing extensive damage to the front end of the SUV and killing the young moose on impact.
The vehicle came to rest near the median and eastbound traffic was slowed through the area until the scene could be cleared.
Jason Spurrell, the vehicle's driver, later posted dashcam footage to his Facebook page, stating that he and his passenger, Justin Walsh, were "shaken up" but otherwise "OK".
He also says the vehicle he was passing in the right lane missed the bigger of the two moose.
