Residents of this province and visitors love to hike around historic Signal Hill.

Those who are wishing to do so in the next little while will have to wait as Parks Canada announced Monday the North Head Trail will be closed to complete upgrades until April 2018.

Visitors are not permitted in the trail during the repairs that are part of a Parks Canada multi-year rehabilitation project aimed at improving infrastructure and visitor experiences at Signal Hill. Visitors are asked to respect the closure and stay off the North Head Trail during this construction as it will be impassable while work is underway.

Parks Canada will continue to provide updates on this project as work progresses and will notify the public when the trail re-opens.

For more information, please contact Signal Hill National Historic Site at 709- 772-0284.

Parks Canada has committed $3 billion towards heritage, tourism, waterway and highway infrastructure improvements over the next five years.
