One arrest, no injuries after morning incident in Appleton

The RCMP in central Newfoundland says one person has been taken into custody and there is no longer any immediate threat too public safety after a morning incident in the area of River Road and Roland Road in Appleton, west of Gander

The police say there were no known injuries in the incident. Still, there was tenseness in the community just before 9 a.m. when the RCMP sent out an advisory asking residents to remain inside their homes as they investigated.

The latest police bulletin says people may now leave their homes, but they are being asked to “respect the presence of police, which is expected to continue for some time” and to stay away from the location of the incident.
