Ontario man who crashed into ditch at Marystown town hall arrested for impaired driving

MARYSTOWN, N.L. — MARYSTOWN, N.L. – Police arrested a 21-year-old man from Ontario for impaired driving after his vehicle crossed the lawn and landed in a ditch near the gazebo at the town hall in Marystown.

According to a RCMP news release, police received a report about the single-vehicle collision at roughly 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 23.

The man was transported to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre for treatment, where a blood demand was provided and a sample collected for analysis, the release stated.

As a result, the man’s licence was suspended and his vehicle was impounded.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The investigation is continuing.
