The Department of Transportation and Works advises motorists that a portion of the Outer Ring Road will be reduced to one lane starting on Wednesday. It's expected to continue for several weeks.
The lane closures will be next to the median on the highway between Torbay Road and Logy Bay Road. The speed limit in that area will be reduced to 50 km/h.
The street lights on that portion of the highway will not be operational during that time.
“The lane closures are necessary as a contractor repairs light poles. As crews and equipment will be working in the roadway, the lane reduction ensures the safety of workers and motorists and allows the work to be completed as quickly as possible,” stated a news release issued by the department Tuesday afternoon.
