Pair face charges after St. John’s drugstore theft, assault

St. John’s,N.L. — Police had to chase down a pair of suspected shoplifters early Friday morning after reports of theft and assault at a west end pharmacy. The RNC responded the call around 6:30 a.m. where they found
that a female shoplifter had fled with the help of a man who had assaulted the uniformed security guard on site.

After a short foot chase, police managed to arrest both parties.

A 30-year-old woman was charged with theft under $5,000 and for breaching court orders.

A 35 year old man was charged with theft under $5,000, assault causing bodily harm and public mischief.

Both were brought to provincial court to answer for the charges.
