As Petty Harbour continues to attract hundreds of tourists a year, locals have been raising concerns about the lack of adequate parking space in the community.

On Thursday $59,284 in joint federal-provincial funding was announced for an extensive parking project in the town. $37,390 will come from the federal Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and $21,284 from the province.

An area on Skinner’s Hill adjacent to the Newfoundland Power power plant will be excavated, levelled and fenced to accommodate approximately two-dozen parking spaces.
