A pickup left a nearly kilometer long trail of damage in St. John’s Friday night, finally crashing into a light pole.

The incident started near Bannerman Park on Rennies Mill Road when the pickup driven by a male apparently struck a parked car, sending it crashing into another parked vehicle.

The pickup then continued about 700 metres down the road onto Portugal Cove Road where it struck a rock retaining wall, losing the rear cap on the road in the process.

The vehicle then continued on another eighty meters where it collided with a light pole.

All three scenes were littered with debris and there was a trail of vehicle fluids and debris from the original collision scene to the final one.

The male driver was taken to hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup was extensively damaged as was the SUV that was originally struck on Rennies Mill Road.

The second vehicle involved in the first crash had minor damage.

More details will be provided as they become available.
