PLUM POINT, N.L.

A Plum Point man is facing impaired driving charges after crashing his vehicle in the community on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Port Saunders RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision just after 11 a.m., according to a release.

A police officer in the area at the time headed to the scene and found the 63-year-old fleeing the area.

The man, who was located at his residence minutes later, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

Breath samples provided by the man showed his blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit, the release indicated.

A driver’s licence suspension was issued and the man’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

The man was released from custody and will appear in Port au Choix Provincial Court at a later date.
