Police are keeping tight-lipped while they continue to investigate the suspicious death of a 45-year-old woman in St. John’s.

On Wednesday at about 10:40 p.m., police and paramedics were called to a unit at Meadowland Manor apartment building at 107 Bay Bulls Rd. after a report of a sudden death.

The woman was pronounced deceased when paramedics got there.

RNC spokesman, Const. Geoff Higdon, said investigators with the major crime unit are still looking into the cause of the death and can’t say whether or not it was a homicide.

“A lot of work still has to be done to make a determination,” Higdon told The Telegram.

Investigators are working with the office of the chief medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

Police secured the area in which the death occurred pending the medical examiner’s report. Investigators have been in the area throughout the day canvassing and speaking with neighbours. RNC officers remained at the scene until Friday afternoon.

“You never know what goes on around here, honest to God,” one woman, who lives near the building and was walking past it told The Telegram Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be provided anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
