ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — An 80-year-old woman was the victim of a daylight robbery in Churchill Square on Friday.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the incident took place at 1:25 p.m. on Friday outside a business in the square. The man made off with her purse, then fled down Pinebud Avenue.
Police say the man is described as 5’10, with a thin build and dark skin, with short black hair and a beard. Police estimate the man in his mid-twenties and was wearing a black jacket, black pants, and beanie hat at the time of the incident.
The RNC’s major crime unit is investigating the robbery. Anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time is asked to contact police.
