It seems the country’s Prime Minister is better-versed on the lyrics to a popular Newfoundland traditional song than most Newfoundlanders.

Last night in Ottawa at the second annual Newfoundland shed party in support of provincial tourism, Justin Trudeau, standing alongside event Newfoundland actor Allan Hawco, led members of the Liberal caucus in a rousing rendition of “The Ryans and the Pittmans” — also known as “We’ll Rant and We’ll Roar”.

The group is accompanied by musicians Mark Manning, Aaron Collis, Anthony Chafe and Michael Boone, who form the band Rum Ragged. MP Seamus O’Regan, who can be seen at the far right, posted this video to social media on Wednesday night:

At one point, it appears that Trudeau is helping Hawco with the lyrics. In an Instagram post afterwards, the former “Republic of Doyle” star admitted he might have ”shagged up."
