Earl Ludlow has been appointed to the Economic Recovery Team, Premier Andrew Furey announced Thursday.

Ludlow is temporarily stepping aside from his position as chair of the Independent Appointments Commission to join Dame Moya Greene and the rest of the team, according to a news release.

A recipient of the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador, Ludlow spent more than 40 years at Fortis Group, including serving as executive vice-president. He served as a member of Memorial University’s Board of Regents and has been inducted into the Atlantic Business Magazine’s CEO Hall of Fame, the Volunteer Hall of Fame and received the Canadian Red Cross Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2010.

Besides Greene, other members of the team are Brenda Brothers, Moya Cahill, Zita Cobb, Oral Dawe, Philip Earle, Richard Kostoff, Iris Petten, Gary Mooney, Mary Shortall, and David Vardy.

In the face of the ongoing global pandemic, the team is reviewing government expenditures, the province’s fiscal capacity, how services are delivered and exploring growth sectors such as clean energy and investments in technology.

“Mr. Ludlow has an incredible wealth of experience, which we will draw from to help shape our plan for a sustainable future. His participation in this valuable work is truly appreciated," Furey said in the news release.
