The RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor is investigating a robbery that took place during a private sale last month near Botwood.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on Nov. 21, the victim met up with a man near the hydro station, off of the Botwood Highway, for the purpose of a private sale of a cell phone.

The sale was arranged following a conversation on Facebook Market Place. The victim was assaulted during the exchange and the suspect fled the area in a car without paying for the cell phone.

The suspect, who was driving a black Honda Civic, was last seen heading towards Botwood. He is described as being in his mid-thirties, 250 pounds and approximately six-feet tall. He was wearing glasses, a Montreal Canadians ball cap and a black jacket.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the individual involved.

If you have any information, contact Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP at 709-489-2121 or contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (TIPS is 8477).
