HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. — RCMP recently found 350 grams of cannabis, scales, cash and baggies when they searched a car they had pulled over in a traffic stop in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

RCMP said when they pulled over the vehicle on May 22, there was an odour of cannabis coming from it and they could see baggies of cannabis.

An 18-year-old man and a youth were arrested and are facing charges of possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing/selling under the federal Cannabis Act. Both individuals were released and are scheduled to appear in court in September.

A week later on May 29, RCMP were on patrol in Sheshatshiu and pulled over an all-terrain vehicle which was being driven erratically.

RCMP said the 27-year-old man was driving with a suspended license and was also found in possession of brass knuckles, a prohibited weapon. He was arrested for impaired driving and RCMP said he provided breath samples more than three times the legal limit.

Police issued an additional suspension of his driver’s license and the ATV was seized for 30 days. The man now faces charges for impaired driving and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was released from custody and is set to appear in court Sept. 8.
