ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — All recreation facilities will be closed until Monday, Jan. 27, even if the state of emergency is lifted earlier, the City of St. John’s said in a press release Thursday.

All community centres are subject to this closure, including the Railway Coastal Museum as well as the Pippy Park and Bowring Park Winter Activities Centres.

Any rentals, public events and weekend programs are cancelled. The city asks those affected by the closure not to call 311. Staff from the recreation division will contact those affected.

An update is expected Sunday, Jan. 26
