There was one new confirmed case reported as Newfoundland and Labrador’s first live COVID-19 briefing of April was held Wednesday.
The new case is that of a man in the 60-to-69 age group in the Western Health region. Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says it is related to travel within Canada. Fitzgerald also noted it is the only travel-related case reported in the province in the last five days.
“Which is quite remarkable considering many provinces in Canada are seeing a significant spike in cases," she said. “It is a testament to everyone’s commitment to keeping the COVID wave at bay.”
The province has four active COVID-19 cases, with none involving a hospitalized patient.
